* The text can be downloaded as a PDF file. Available only in Japanese.
To hand down the whole picture of the atomic bombing in Hiroshima to future generations, Hiroshima Genbaku Sensaishi [Record of the Hiroshima A-bomb War Disaster] was edited by the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum from around 1960 until 1971, when all five volumes were published in cooperation with the citizens of Hiroshima, including A-bomb survivors. This book describes in detail the situations of communities, schools and business establishments after the atomic bombing, as well as relief & rescue operations in Hiroshima. Although it is a basic material related to the atomic bombing, this book is currently very hard to find.
(Note) After the publication of “Record of the Hiroshima A-bomb War Disaster,” newly confirmed materials and research conducted afterward has revealed that some parts of the text need to be edited.
Please understand that the information provided in this book remains as it was at the time of its publication.
Furthermore, some of the photos and images are not included in the book for copyright reasons.
Since August 2005, revised versions, in which charts and diagrams have been inserted into Volumes 1, 2 and 5, have become available.
