| Situation | ❝I think if atomic bombs are used again, they will destroy the earth and destroy humanity.❞ Masaki Hironaka was 5 years old at the time of the atomic bombing. He was exposed to the bombing near his home in Koi-machi, about 3.5 kilometers from the hypocenter. On the morning of August 6, he saw his father off, and then when he was playing at a river nearby, he noticed a bright flash of light. Afterward, he saw the "black rain" and the "tragic appearance" of the victims. He says that he is filled with grief whenever he remembers the back of his father, who returned home with much of his body terribly burned. Mr. Hironaka draws pictures based on his experience, in order to pass his experience on to the next generation. |
