Mr. Hirotoshi Morimoto was 13 years old at the time of the bombing.
He was exposed to radiation three days after the bombing on his way home in Nobori-cho, about 1 kilometer from the hypocenter.
He was moving his family's belongings from his house in the city to his relative's house on the day before, so he was able to avoid direct exposure to the bombing.
However, he lost many relatives and friends.
He lived through the postwar period, suffering the agony as a survivor as well as his poor health.
Mr. Morimoto calls for a world without nuclear weapons, saying that
"the atomic bomb was a man-made disaster." |
