Situation |
Niimi Hiroso was six years old at that time. He was exposed to the atomic bombing at home in Hirano-machi, approximately 1.7 kilometers from the hypocenter.
He was about to go out in the entrance hall. The next thing he remembers is that he had been thrown into the yard.
His bitterest memory was that he had to escape, leaving his mother behind, pinned under the collapsed house.
He still remembers seeing corpses and people with their internal organs exposed while evacuating.
Sustaining injuries in his hand and legs, he still has glass fragments inside his body,
but he says that his psychological trauma is more severe than his physical injuries.
He talks about his story in the hope that people learn about Hiroshima, which was atomic bombed, and think about peace. |
