| Situation | Tomioka Itsue was 25 years old at that time. She was exposed to the bombing in her parents’ home in Shinjo-cho, 3.2 kilometers away from the hypocenter. It had felt like a massive orange substance had poured into her room from under the eaves, and she assumed that an incendiary bomb had directly hit the house. What impressed her most was a scene at night where children were squatting down in fear of the central part of the city, burning red in the darkness.
