Situation Mitsuko was watching a B29 bomber circling, through the window on the second floor of the Postal Saving Office, where she worked in accordance with the student mobilization order. When she left the window and went toward the inside of the room, an A-bomb exploded and she was exposed to radiation. She was thrown against the wall by the blast and lost consciousness. When she came to, it was pitch dark around her. She managed to reach Miyuki Bridge through fires occurring in many places. Photos showing the condition on the bridge at that time are displayed at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.
