| Situation | Before the decisive battle for mainland Japan, I had returned to my hometown in Yamaguchi, from Jogecho where the Army Cadet School was located, to visit my relatives. The day before I was supposed to return to Joge (August 6), I left my hometown and headed to Hiroshima. I got off the train at Koi Station and started walking to Hiroshima Station. Along the way, I met many people who were asking for help but there was nothing I could do to help them. |
