Situation |
I was working as a teacher at a national school on Etajima Island. My family was living in Midorimachi. The booming roar could be heard all the way to Etajima Island, and there was a fireball that rose above Hiroshima City followed by smoke. I wanted to return home but no ships were leaving so I had to give up for that day. The next day, I returned to Midorimachi where I was astonished how the conditions of the city had changed completely. My younger sisters had been exposed to the atomic bomb but managed to return home alive. Afterwards, while walking to Hiroshima Station, I witnessed scenes that I can never forget. |
