Situation |
I was exposed to the atomic bomb in front of my home. My face and arms were burned. When the fires in the city had died down, I went with my one-year-old child and younger sister to take refuge in Kabe. Along the way I was astonished by the number of corpses – too horrible for words – near Yokogawa. My father tended to my burns so that maggots would not breed. Nonetheless, in later years healthy people were revolted by my burn scars, which was hard for me. |
