She was in the middle of her work when there was a flash of bright light. Thinking that it was a direct hit by an incendiary, she hid under a table, but the next thing she knew she was buried under rubble. When she made her way outside, she fled to the plant in Furuichi where the faces of her friends were as black as coal. She can remember even today the rice balls that were handed out there. She returned to her home but it was completely destroyed by fire. The following day she headed for Jigozen Elementary School, and was reunited with her parents and younger brother. |
