She was in the middle of helping with building demolition work at a relative’s house. Thinking that it was strange that a plane was flying overheard even though the air raid warning had been lifted, there was the sound of a huge explosion and she could think of nothing but to lie face down on the floor as quickly as she could. When she looked around, it was pitch black and gray smoke was rising up. After that, her grandfather came home and she spent the night in an air raid shelter in Senda-machi. |
