On August 5, 1945 (Sunday), without telling his grandmother, he had returned to his parents in Hiroshima from his father’s family home (currently Miyoshi City) where he had been evacuated. The next morning, his father left for the prefectural police headquarters at the same time as the air raid warning siren, and that was the last time he saw his father. He searched for his father in the city until August 9 but never found him. His father’s remains were just one white bone mixed with burned sand. |
