She was resting at her home in Yoshijima-cho at the time the bomb was dropped. She suffered minor injuries and no burns. Her mother was on her way from the company in Yoshijima to the Hiroshima post office and was on Takano Bridge at the time of the bombing. She came back home with major burns. Her mother was told by the doctor that she would die, and Sachiko nursed her desperately night and day. In October 1946, she and her mother and older brother went back to Okinawa. |
