He was reading the newspaper at the home of an acquaintance in Teppo-cho at the time of the bombing. Although buried under the rubble, managed to make his way out by himself, and went through Kyobashi and the front of the station to close to the hospital attached to Japan Steel Works. However because the hospital was full of injured people, he went to his wife’s family home in Kaita.
