Situation Mr. Nishioka was exposed to the A-bombing in the Hiroshima Prefectural Hiroshima Technical School at Senda-machi, about 2 km away from the hypocenter. It was the time that he arrived at the school. He did not go to the site for building demolition work since he had just recovered from his illness. The blast blew him 20-30 meters away and he was trapped under the collapsed school building. He was severely injured on his face and hands.
After the war, he was terribly shocked to know that all his classmates who were engaged in the building demolition work were killed by the bombing.
