Description | A town famous for flowers and house plants Drawing / Giso Shimomura Around 1930 Koi-machi Approx. 2,500m from the hypocenter Koi-machi, a town just west of Hiroshima, was famous for flower and plant shops. In the shopping and entertainment districts downtown, bonsai and flower sellers from Koi lined the streets. The city streetcars opened during the Taisho era, and Koi became a primary transportation node for those heading either to Hiroshima Station or Miyajima. |
