Description | Streetcar running near the sea 3,900 m from the hypocenter, Ujina Yoshimi Shibazaki (64 at time of drawing) Explanation in picture A streetcar running through Ujina 5-chome. A single line ran right below the seawall. On the other side of the wall was the sea, where people were swimming or digging for shellfish. At night, the wall was lined with people fishing, and boats would pass close by. Little fish and crabs thrived in the creek running next to the streetcar. The water in that creek was very clean. From up on the wall, we could clearly see Eba on the opposite shore. From "Hiroshima We Miss" |
