Description | Hiburi (fire run) Drawing / Takao Miura 1912 to 1926 Kyobashigawa River Every summer Hiburi took place on Kyobashigawa River in connection with the Kangensai Festival at Miyajima. As the water in the river receded with the tide, pine torches would be lit on the river flats. Then, five or six hundred, sometimes as many as a thousand men and boys would run with the torches to the other side of the river. |
