| Description | I believe that it was around February 1945 when I took a two-wheeled cart from Tateishi Sangyo in Ote-machi to the Second Elementary School in Minami-kan-on-machi to pick up the school lunch. I got the lunch and saw the daikon radish had been cut into thin strips. Even though it had been completely eaten out by insects, I still looked forward to it and took it to a factory where friends were waiting. At times, we even ate locust for school lunches. |
