Description | White-walled hospital surrounded by greenery Drawing / Eiichi Uchida Early August 1945 Hiroshima First Army Hospital Moto-machi Approx. 500m from the hypocenter When the army was stationed in Hiroshima, a hospital was built there specifically for military personnel. When the Sino-Japanese war began (1937), patients increased dramatically, and branches were hurriedly constructed in the city and surrounding suburbs. Hiroshima First Army Hospital was in Moto-machi, where military facilities were concentrated. At the time of the bombing, it had 300 patients. |
