Description | Burned fish swimming Drawn by Hirotoshi Sano (age of 17 at the time of the bombing) Hirotoshi Sano, who created this picture, arrived at the mouth of the Otagawa River in Hiroshima City by boat around 4:30 am on August 7 to search for his mother. “A fish - probably a large crucian carp - that had lost its dorsal fin and had about half its scales burnt off, was floating on the surface of the water near the edge of the boat. Later, I realized that this fish must have been exposed to intense radiation near the surface of the water when the atomic bomb exploded." |
