Description | Seigo Nishioka (then 13) who drew this picture Seigo Nishioka, a 1st year student at Hiroshima Prefectural Technical School, was exposed to the atomic bombing at school. When he came to, he discovered that he was trapped under the school building and couldn't move. Although he was rescued somehow, he suffered burns on his face and hand, and injuries to his foot. People who survived and people who died Around 9 am My burned face was so hot that I couldn't help but cool it in the river. Someone told me, "if you put water on your burns, you'll die." So, I had no choice but to just sit on the river bank. This is what it looked like. People who had been exposed to the atomic bombing were severely burned, and walked along silently with both arms raised in front. Many lifeless people were floating away one after another over the breadth of the river in front of me. |
