Description Minoru Ozaki (then 13) who drew this picture
Minoru Ozaki was exposed to the atomic bomb on his way to school. The left side of his face and left hand were burned by the heat rays, and he was taken to a relief station in Saka Town. He couldn't open one side of his mouth due to his burns, and remained bedridden. He watched as the people around him died one after another. He hovered between life and death until relatives came for him on August 20. His mother, who had been mobilized for building demolition work, and his younger sister and grandmother who had been at home are still missing.

August 6, 1945, around 9 am
People had their first taste of water after the disaster.
“If you drink water after suffering such burns, you'll die!"
“I don't care, I must have water!!"
Many people swarmed around the ruptured water pipe.
