Description | “A-bomb experience of a 13-year-old boy” Artist: Seigo Nishioka There were two lines of evacuees on the western end of the Miyuki-bashi Bridge. When I asked someone close by what these lines were for. I was told, “They treat burns here,” so I joined the line. Soldiers dipped brooms with their tips wrapped in white cloth into a drum can full of cooking oil, and hold the dripping brooms towards the victims. The victims applied oil to their burns by rubbing their burns against the brooms. When someone was too slow or clumsy, the soldiers yelled, “Hurry up!” |
