Description | “A-bomb experience of a 13-year-old boy” Artist: Seigo Nishioka With the help of my two upperclassmen, I made it to the western end of the Miyuki-bashi Bridge. There were many evacuees. People who just made it there only to die, people scared of the raging fire burning in the city center, people rejoicing over finding each other, people suffering from burns and injuries, and so forth. The two upperclassmen said, “We're going home, so you continue,” and ran off. I, suddenly alone, asked a nearby man, “How can I make it back to my home in Hakushima?” He said to me, “The city of Hiroshima is a sea of fire right now. You can't go back.” |
