Description | Let’s Go Home Painted by Seigo Nishioka August 9th, 1945 Approx. 700m from the hypocenter Nakajima-shin-machi (now, Nakajima-cho) Remarks by the Painter Shedding tears, a father had wrapped the body of his son in a straw mat and was carrying him on his back to their home. I guess the father walked through a burned field under the midsummer sun, talking to his son on their long way home. “How hot it was. How painful it was. How agonizing it was. Let’s go home. Let’s go home together.” |
