Description | Name Tags on Chests Enabling Me to Identify My Classmates Painted by Minoru Ozaki Around 8:20 or 30 a.m. on August 6th, 1945 Ote-machi Remarks by the Painter It became bright around me, I decided to go home and so went out to the street. (At that time, I thought a bomb was dropped upon us.) From a cloud of white smoke, a crowd of people waved upon me. Their faces swollen and covered in ashes, and their hands extending forward. The peeled skin of their palms were hanging. I could not recognize who was who, and only the name tags on their chests enabled me to identify my classmates. |
