Description | Ice of life Drawn by Minoru Ozaki August 6, 1945, around 10:00-11:00 a.m. Approx. 4,790m from the hypocenter Near the Ujina streetcar stop Artist’s comments: “As they made their way evacuating from the disaster, many craved water from desperate thirst. A gentleman from an ice shop in front of the terminal put ice on the road, crushed it into pieces and gave the pieces to everyone. That was truly helpful. It was real ice of life! I owe him a debt of gratitude.” |
