Description | Boy blinded by burns asking for water Basement of a military policeman's home August 6, 1945, about 7:30 p.m. Seikichi Tsujiguchi (21 at the time of the bombing, 78 when he drew this picture) Artist's explanation On August 6, 1945, at about 7:30 p.m., in the basement of a military policeman's home, we took in a boy about 6. He was burned over his whole body and couldn't see. That boy talked all night about his parents, his brothers, things in his home, food, etc. In the morning of the 7th, he said, "I want water." I gave him some from my water bottle, and he died. All of the soldiers who had listened to his story cried. |
