Turning left at the wide intersection, I saw a girl aged 12 or 13 clad in a school uniform with her hair bobbed. She urgently asked me for water saying, “Mr. Soldier, please give me some water.” But I had run out of water then and just left. Why couldn’t I get her into my car, take her back to our camp field and give her plenty of water and treatment? If she were alive now, I’d like to give her plenty of spring water from Mt. Fuji, and also sincerely apologize for leaving her behind then. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for her survival. |
