Description | Injured people taking refuge on the riverbank to escape the flames 1,300m from the hypocenter, Tenma-cho August 6, 1945 Kichinosuke Tamada (13 at the time of the bombing, 70 when he drew this picture) Explanation in picture The flames licked up and injured people headed for the riverbank to take refuge. Their clothes were torn, their burned faces were so swollen, I couldn稚 tell if they were facing me or looking away. Many with arms hanging limp had clear lines on their heads marking where a hat had been. |
