| Description | Temporary crematoria were created in fields around the city. All the corpses lined up for cremation were gruesome. I saw a boy in a wooden box, his face wrapped in bandages, his body clothed in yukata (cotton kimono). Laying on a corrugated iron sheet were two charred corpses whose arms and legs had burned off. For three days and three nights, the city was wrapped in the stench and smoke of burning people. |
