Description | Female driver 2,400m from the hypocenter Minami-senda-machi embankment line Minami-senda-machi (now, Minami-senda-nishi-machi) August 7, 1945 Shizuko Matsunaga (13 at time of bombing, 69 at time of drawing) [Notes from the artist] On the tag was written "female driver who died from the atomic bomb near Shirakamisha Shrine." Her big face was burnt and blistered, and her eyes and mouth were bulging from her face. Someone had gently wrapped her naked body in a futon and brought her to the neighborhood. Fluid, along with a steady stream of maggots, was oozing from her ears, nose and mouth. |
