Description | The agonizing sight of death has remained in my memory ever since 1,000m from the hypocenter Teppo-cho August 7, 1945, 1:00 p.m. Drawn by Yozo Tanaka (age 18 at the time of the bombing) [Excerpt of artist comment] Ditches and firefighting water tanks were full of rotting corpses. Predominantly women and children, and devoid of clothes, the lying bodies were packed closely together without any space between them. The agonizing sight of death has remained in my memory ever since. |
