[Excerpt of artist comment]
The pond at Asano’s Sentei Garden (today’s Shukkeien Garden) was encircled without a gap by victims with burns, who were drinking from the pond. The following day, I found the people exactly as they were on the previous day around the pond, but dead. The edge of the pond became their final resting place.
