Description A-bomb Drawings by Survivors
[Artist's comments]Quoted from a document
When I passed in front of the Hiroshima Central Broadcasting Station, I saw something black in the center of the road. I approached and saw it was a woman's charred body. I peered closer and saw that she had died covering the body of her infant with her own. I instantly thought it could be my own mother and baby sister, so I rushed to our house about 70 meters ahead. It had burned completely to the ground. I went on to the Sentei Garden, where I saw many corpses and wounded people, but not my mother and sister. I thought of the corpses on the road―the woman was about the size of my mother. I had to go back and check closely. But when I hurried to the spot, the bodies were gone. I searched the area but never found them.(Taken from A-bomb Memoirs collected by Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, vol.39, edited by Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation, published by Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare; 2003, page 69)
