Complete rubble, nothing to arrest the eye but corpses, everywhere, piled like mountains. There were four or five people lying in the same position facing the same direction in each fire cistern. The way they looked, the way they died, was so pitiable I couldn't look straight at them. There was a whole line of fire cisterns, each with humans in them.
