"Black rain began to fall immediately after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. I encountered it in Chojuen (*). As the map shows, the black rain fell in areas northwest of the hypocenter, its heaviness indicated by the density of the black dots."
(*)This section of the Otagawa riverbank was a popular cherry-blossom viewing walkway. (From the present Nishi-hakushima-cho to Hakushima-kita-machi)
