Description | Taking refuge in a bamboo groove August 9, 1945 Kyoichi Wakimoto (48 at time of bombing, 78 at time of drawing) [Notes from the artist] Nearly 200 people had taken shelter in a gloomy bamboo groove. Most of them had blood dripping from burns and lacerations on thier arms, legs, and faces. Their wounds were all covered in mercurochrome (because there was no other medicine available). |
