Description | Fleeing by boat with friends and neighbors Tenmagawa River August 6, 1945, 9:00 a.m. Tadashi Takeuchi (15 at the time of the bombing, 45 when he drew this picture) Explanation in picture After running to Tenmagawa River, we found a boat. As soon as we climbed in, people gathered and begged to be saved. Some reached out but died when I took their hand. We took a dozen or so on board and fled to Minami-kan-on-machi. There I walked around looking for my family. My father had died. My mother and sister were badly injured. I still shed tears when I remember my sister's joy when I found her at her girls school. Hands together in prayer. People of the world, know the horror of the atomic bomb! |
