| Description | Ruins of Denpukuji Temple, soldier lifting corpses from the river Drawing / Sen Sugimoto August 8, 1945 Approx. 370m from the hypocenter Zaimoku-cho (now Nakajima-cho) Sen Sugimoto (then 49) entered Hiroshima on the 8th looking for her brother-in-law Shodo and his wife Yoshiko. The rivers were full of bodies. She walked through a ruined city still strewn with bodies. When she finally arrived at the spot where the house should have been, not a trace was left. |
