Description | The flames devoured people with tremendous force, turning the scene into a living hell 1,300m from the hypocenter Temma-cho August 6, 1945, around 11:00 a.m. Drawn by Terumi Nishida (age 33 at the time of the bombing) [Excerpt of artist comment] Houses were going up in flames. Some of the inhabitants looked as if they were still asleep, oblivious to their burning bedclothes, while some became trapped. The flames devoured people with tremendous force, turning the scene into a living hell. Nothing could be done to save them from the blaze. Accursed is the atomic bomb. |
