Branches flew off, and the trunk was split at the middle. Smoke rose from between the two burning trunks. A streetcar lay on its side, burned down to the metal skeleton. Stones from the walls of Kokutaiji Temple and Shirakamisha Shrine had been thrown about. It was a vast burnt plain. |
