Explanation in picture
The great camphor tree in Shirakamisha Shrine toppled over the streetcar tracks, pulled out from the roots. Branches flew off, and the trunk was split at the middle. Smoke rose from between the two burning trunks. A streetcar lay on its side, burned down to the metal skeleton. Stones from the walls of Kokutaiji Temple and Shirakamisha Shrine had been thrown about. It was a vast burnt plain.
