Description | The city’s rivers were full of such dying people 1,300m from the hypocenter Upstream from Yokogawa Bridge August 7, 1945, early morning Drawn by Kenichi Nakano (age 47 at the time of the bombing) [Excerpt of artist comment] I kneeled on the river bank and joined my hands in prayer, having seen such a sight for the first time in my life. Some had been blown there by the bomb blast, some had drowned after jumping into the river to escape the heat. The city’s rivers were full of such dying people. May their souls rest in peace. |
