Description | Trapped under fallen pillars, children surrounded by flames called for their mother. 780m from the hypocenter, Nishi-hikimido-cho (now, Tokaichi-machi 2-chome) August 6, 1945, 11:00 a.m. Terumi Nishida (33 at time of bombing, 62 at time of drawing) Explanation in picture Three children were trapped under beams. From inside the flames they were screaming for their mother. Their frantic mother was outside, unable to save them or to run away. Imagine how that mother felt. But flames were burning at her feet. |
