Sachie Kodani, the donor, was exposed to the bomb at her workplace, an office on the 2nd floor of the Army Ordnance Supply Depot. Upon returning to her home in Nishi-kaniya-cho, she found that it had been destroyed and no one was there. While spending several evacuation days at a shrine in Fuchu-cho, she asked for issuance of this certificate at a nearby town office. After that, she learned that her mother was staying at Yaga Elementary School, and reunited with her mother, elder brother and younger sister there. Her mother, however, had sustained burn injuries and died on August 29. |
