| Description | First-year student at Second Hiroshima Prefectural Junior High School, Takeo Kono (then, 14) was exposed to the bombing at his building demolition worksite where he had been mobilized to work. He died nearby. The next day, his older brother Juichi found his body on a riverbank and cremated him there. Takeo carried this money that day. Takeo left his parents and went to school from Juichi’s house in the city. Juichi loved Takeo so much he carefully preserved all the money Takeo left. |
