Description | Piece of glass from a girl’s face Donated by Michiko Furuya Approx. 1,300 m from the hypocenter Kami-yanagi-cho (now, Hashimoto-cho) The bomb exploded, and the house collapsed on Michiko Shishido (then, 3), her mother, and other family members. Father Ukichi (then, 42), who was in the yard, dug the others out of the ruins. The family fled the city through the black rain, carrying the child, limp and bloodied by the countless glass fragments piercing her flesh. This fragment was extracted from Michiko’s face. |
