Tashiro Izuka (44) was exposed at Nobori-cho Elementary School. He was trapped under the building. Digging his way out, he found his body embedded with countless glass fragments, his face burned, and peeling skin all over his body. The next day, he made it to his younger sister's house, where his wife, Shizuno, (then, 33) came to bring him home. Shizuno did all she could to save him, but he died on August 23 leaving her and four children. This roof tile was found in the burned ruins of Nobori-cho Elementary School. Shizuno kept it in memory of Tashiro. |
