Description The donor's father, Kichijiro Ueda (then, 42), an employee of the Kaitaichi Police Station, was exposed to the bomb at home in Koi-naka-hon-machi. Windowpanes shattered and Kichijiro was lifted by the blast, but he suffered only mild injuries because he supported himself with the Japanese sword he was holding. Ever after, Kichijiro treasured the handle of that sword, which cracked off due to his weight. He wrapped it in fabric and kept it until he passed away.
